This plugin remembers who has modified an entry.

Installation / Uninstallation

To install the plugin, copy the KeeModifiedBy* files into the Plugins folder (KeePass can open this folder: menu 'Tools' → 'Plugins' → button 'Open Folder') and restart KeePass.

To uninstall the plugin, delete the KeeModifiedBy* files.

Usage

Whenever an entry is modified, the KeeModifiedBy plugin automatically remembers the operating system user name and the machine name. No manual steps are required. The information is stored in custom data fields of the entry (named 'KeeModifiedBy_User' and 'KeeModifiedBy_Machine').

Accessing the stored information:

• If you want to see who has modified a specific entry, open the entry dialog (by right-clicking onto the entry in the main entry list → 'Edit Entry') and switch to the 'History' tab page. The user information is displayed at the end of the 'Modified:' line.
• In the main window, you can add columns for displaying user information: click the main menu item 'View' → 'Configure Columns' and activate the column(s) 'Modified by User' and/or 'Modified by Machine'.
• If you want to find all entries that were modified by the user 'Michael', open the search dialog (e.g. by clicking the main menu item 'Find' → 'Find') and perform a search with the following settings:
  • Find what: //Entry/CustomData/Item[(Key = 'KeeModifiedBy_User') and (Value = 'Michael')]/../..
  • Mode: XPath expression
  Activate the 'History' option if and only if you also want to search in history entries.

Security

Everyone who can open and save the database file can also modify the user information that KeeModifiedBy stores in the database. Therefore, the user information is not a proof that the user is really responsible for the modifications.
